Compost Facility Operator Training (CFOT)

The Compost Facility Operator Training (CFOT) is set to take place at Washington State University’s Puyallup campus, offering an extensive 5-day program focused on composting practices specifically tailored to the Pacific Northwest. This event is designed to connect students, speakers, and instructors in a collaborative learning environment. The training is particularly beneficial for a diverse group of participants, including compost facility operators and managers, on-farm compost processors, end users, waste management consultants, agricultural extension staff, environmental and health agency professionals, and public officials.

The program emphasizes a hybrid learning approach, combining virtual classroom instruction with hands-on training to ensure compliance with Washington Administrative Code 173-350-220 requirements for Compost Facilities.

The curriculum, developed by WORC, is renowned for enhancing technical knowledge in compost facility operations and has been a benchmark for trainings across the United States since its inception in February 1995.
