The Annual United States Senate Youth Program Washington Week is a prestigious educational initiative designed for high school students aspiring to careers in public service. This program, now in its 65th year, invites two student leaders from each state, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity to immerse themselves in the workings of the national government in Washington, D.C. Participants experience a week-long program where all transportation, accommodation, and meal expenses are covered. In addition, each delegate is awarded a substantial college scholarship of $12,500 to support their undergraduate studies, with an emphasis on fields like history and political science.The event features notable speakers who share their insights and experiences with the students. Among them, Senate Sergeant at Arms Jennifer Hemingway, who reflected on her journey from intern to her current role, emphasized the importance of hard work and perseverance.
