Wisconsin Hospital Association Advocacy Day

The Wisconsin Hospital Association Advocacy Day brought together health care professionals and lawmakers in Madison, Wisconsin, to discuss critical health care issues and advocate for improved patient care across the state. The event featured a keynote address from Jonathan Martin, POLITICO Politics Bureau Chief and Senior Political Columnist, who is also the author of 'This Will Not Pass.' This diverse panel highlighted the importance of working together across party lines to address health care challenges in Wisconsin.Throughout the afternoon, over two dozen staff members from Wisconsin hospitals showcased their quality improvement initiatives in the Capitol Rotunda. The WHA Health Care Quality Showcase provided a platform for legislators, hospital staff, and the public to engage with health care professionals dedicated to advancing patient care. Attendees had the opportunity to conduct more than 600 legislative visits, sharing specific examples of how hospitals are enhancing access to high-quality health care in their communities. Participants expressed their enthusiasm about the event, noting the empowerment it provided to health care workers advocating for their patients and their profession. Feedback from the legislative visits indicated a strong interest from lawmakers in understanding local impacts of health care policies. The day concluded with a positive sentiment among attendees, reflecting on the valuable insights gained regarding hospital operations and the pressing professional needs within the health care system.
