Wasatch Fly Tying & Fly Fishing Expo

The Wasatch Fly Tying & Fly Fishing Expo is a premier event designed for fly fishing enthusiasts and professionals alike, taking place at the Mountain America Exposition Center in Sandy, Utah. Since its inception in 2007, this expo has become a gathering place for fly fishers, fly tyers, guides, outfitters, and leading gear providers to come together for a weekend dedicated to learning, conservation, and community engagement. With its ninth edition, the expo promises an exciting lineup of activities that inspire participants and celebrate the art and science of fly fishing.

Attendees can look forward to hands-on workshops led by internationally recognized fly fishing talents such as Jack Dennis, Phil Rowley, Brian O’Keefe, Cheech Pierce, and Curtis Fry. A diverse group of instructors, including Mickey Anderson, Hope Blackburn, and Amanda Chapman, will offer expert insights into various techniques and strategies. The event features a Fly Tying Theater where renowned fly tyers will demonstrate their signature patterns, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to learn directly from the best in the field.

This interactive experience allows visitors to watch, question, and engage with expert tyers as they showcase a wide range of techniques and styles, from simple flies to intricate designs.

A highlight of the expo is the introduction of Utah's first Iron Fly Competition, where twelve top fly tyers will compete in a thrilling challenge to create flies in just 15 minutes using mystery materials. This competition will take place on Saturday, April 11, at 1:00 PM in the Fly Tying Theater, providing an electrifying atmosphere for spectators to cheer on their favorite tyers.

Additionally, the expo will feature daily door prize drawings, including a chance to win the MAXXON Stonefly Combo, enhancing the excitement for all participants.
