Virginia ASCD Annual Conference

The Virginia ASCD Annual Conference is an educational gathering designed to equip educators with innovative instructional strategies and current research in the field of education. Attendees will engage in educational sessions and hands-on learning environments, gaining access to tangible resources and ready-to-use techniques that enhance their teaching practices. The conference emphasizes the importance of sharing insights and resources to better prepare schools and divisions to guide educators in improving student learning outcomes.

One of the key workshops, titled Beyond the Margins: What Works Best for Every Learner at Every Edge, is grounded in the science of learning and Visible Learning principles. This workshop invites educators to explore effective teaching strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, including vulnerable learners and those who excel. Participants will delve into evidence-based practices, focusing on high-effect instructional strategies derived from Visible Learning research.

Key topics covered will include the calibration of scaffolding for both struggling and advanced learners, the mechanics of effective feedback, and the application of principles from the science of learning, such as spaced practice and retrieval techniques. The objective is to foster precise and intentional teaching that promotes growth, clarity, and a sense of belonging for every student in each lesson.

The conference will be held at the Williamsburg Lodge, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, and is expected to attract a wide audience, including project managers and educational professionals from across the United States.
