The event titled Unlocking Pancreatobiliary Pathology: Practical Diagnostic Tools for Resections, Small Biopsies, and Cytology Specimens is an interactive microscopy course directed by Olca Basturk, MD. This course is designed to delve into the intricate field of pancreatobiliary pathology, offering attendees a comprehensive understanding of diagnosis techniques for challenging cytologic and surgical specimens related to the pancreas and biliary tract. Developed in collaboration with the Pancreatobiliary Pathology Society, the program promises to enhance participants' diagnostic accuracy and confidence through a blend of foundational principles and advanced diagnostic methods, including gross examination and frozen section interpretation.Targeting anatomic pathology trainees, cytopathologists, and practicing surgical pathologists, the course aims to refine their expertise in handling complex specimens. Participants will engage in a range of educational activities, including a 30-minute Slide Preview session where they will review glass slides individually before discussing cases in a collaborative environment using multiheaded teaching microscopes. The course will empower attendees to recognize and interpret the spectrum of cystic and solid pancreatic lesions, apply updated terminology and classification systems for various intraductal pancreatic lesions, analyze prognostic marker studies in breast cancer, and utilize updated grading criteria for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms. Additionally, participants will learn to identify neoplastic and inflammatory biliary tract lesions and evaluate limited biopsy and cytology specimens effectively. This educational activity not only enhances practical skills but also contributes significantly to the participants' professional development in the field of pancreatobiliary pathology.
