The Annual Respiratory Disease Young Investigators' Forum

The Annual Respiratory Disease Young Investigators' Forum, hosted by National Jewish Health in Denver, is a premier educational event designed for fellows and early career faculty in the fields of pulmonary, allergy, and immunology. This forum serves as a vital platform for young investigators to present their original research related to respiratory diseases, including but not limited to asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, allergic rhinitis, and COVID-19. The event is specifically tailored for US-based MDs and DOs who are either currently enrolled in fellowship programs or have transitioned into academic roles within the last two years. Participants must submit original, unpublished research abstracts, which will undergo a rigorous selection process where expert faculty will evaluate the scientific significance, quality, and overall presentation of the submissions. Only the top 30 abstracts will be invited for presentation in a podium format, allowing participants to showcase their findings and engage in constructive discussions with peers and faculty.During the forum, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with expert faculty and fellow researchers, fostering valuable mentorship relationships that are essential for career development in respiratory medicine. The event includes presentations from expert faculty covering vital topics for emerging physician-scientists, enhancing attendees' understanding of research methodologies and grant application processes. An awards ceremony will recognize the outstanding work of the young investigators, with monetary prizes allocated for the top three submissions in both Basic Science and Clinical Research categories. The first-place award is $2,000, followed by second and third place awards of $1,500 and $1,000, respectively. This forum, now in its 22nd year, is a testament to National Jewish Health's commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders in respiratory research, ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to advance their careers and contribute meaningfully to the field.
