Summer CORD Conference

The Council of Orthopaedic Residency Directors (CORD) hosts two significant conferences annually, focusing on the education and development of residency and fellowship program directors in orthopaedic surgery. One such event is the Winter CORD Conference, which will take place in conjunction with the Association of Residency Coordinators in Orthopaedic Surgery (ARCOS) Annual Conference. The Winter CORD Conference theme, 'What Happens When Things Don’t Go According to Plan,' will address the challenges and strategies involved in adapting to unexpected changes within residency programs.The Program Education, Accreditation, and Leadership (PEAL) Forum is a key component of the Winter CORD Conference, specifically tailored for new and aspiring residency and fellowship program directors, assistant program directors, and residency coordinators. This forum will feature various discussions aimed at enhancing faculty development, focusing on essential skills that graduates should possess. The agenda includes presentations by notable speakers such as S. Trent Guthrie, MD, FAOA, and Afshin Razi, FAOA, who will discuss crucial topics such as necessary skills upon graduation and the traits of high-performing residents. The conference will also highlight the critical challenges faced during resident skills assessments and explore major assessment tools and their limitations.Following the PEAL Forum, the main CORD Conference will commence, featuring interactive sessions that encourage participants to engage with the theme of navigating unexpected circumstances in residency training.
