Submarine Technology Symposium

The Submarine Technology Symposium (STS) is a classified three-day conference held at the Kossiakoff Conference Center on the campus of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. This symposium serves as a premier opportunity for productive technical exchanges among industry, government, and academia. Participants are invited to submit abstracts for presentation, and the on-site format includes selected displays of new technology developments. The event encourages engagement through Q&A sessions, breaks for discussions, and networking opportunities, highlighting the importance of collaboration in the field of submarine technology.The symposium features a robust lineup of notable speakers and industry experts. Past events have included presentations from prominent figures such as CNO John Richardson, who served as the Day 2 luncheon speaker in 2018, and VADM Michael Connor, USN (Ret), who moderated a roundtable discussion. Other distinguished speakers have included CAPT Dennis Boyer from COMSUBPAC, who addressed submarine and unmanned underwater vehicle collaborative warfare, and Tim Rennick from Battelle, who led discussions on next-generation warfare from under the sea. William Kahle from JHU-APL also contributed insights on defense and deterrence in a future of uncertainty.
