State Leadership Summit

The State Leadership Summit, hosted in partnership with the Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, is an exciting opportunity for Michigan DECA members. This leadership conference is designed to enhance the skills and networking opportunities for students through various sessions and workshops led by industry professionals. The summit begins with a unique chance for participants to engage with business executives during a Thursday night banquet at the Marriott East Lansing. This dinner will feature an industry executive's presentation, followed by discussions at each table, where students will interact with businesspersons, fostering meaningful conversations akin to those at DECA's ASPIRE Academy during the International Conference.On Friday, activities transition to the Broad College of Business, starting with a second keynote session from a business executive. Participants can look forward to two rounds of breakout sessions facilitated by members of the business community and MSU representatives. After lunch, more DECA-focused breakout sessions presented by State Officers and Chapter Advisors will provide tailored insights to help students navigate their careers. Throughout the conference, a professional atmosphere will be maintained, with specific attire guidelines: business attire is required on Thursday, while business casual is permitted on Friday to ensure participants can engage fully in leadership activities. The conference not only emphasizes professional growth but also offers interactive campus tours to help students understand university life better, with an advisor required to accompany every eight students.
