Self-Determination Conference

The Self-Determination Conference, organized by the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, is set to take place at the Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Wisconsin Dells, United States. This engaging event focuses on empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and will feature a variety of activities and sessions designed to promote self-advocacy and community building. Attendees are encouraged to visit the Maji Lounge, located across from the registration desk, for personalized assistance and to enhance their conference experience. One of the highlights of the conference is the Friendship Lounge, hosted by People First Wisconsin. This area serves as a social hub where self-advocates can connect, share experiences, and partake in fun activities such as friendship bracelet making, crafts, button-making, and calming exercises in collaboration with Place of Mind. The event will also include networking breaks, allowing participants to engage with one another and foster new connections. Furthermore, Kalahari Resorts has transitioned to a cashless system, accepting major credit and debit cards, while providing kiosks for cash exchanges. Attendees are advised to plan their sessions in advance to maximize their learning opportunities, as various breakout sessions will offer valuable insights and information. QR codes will be available in the session rooms to facilitate the acquisition of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from UW-Stevens Point, ensuring that participants can gain professional recognition for their attendance.
