About
HealthcareThe Ruberg Symposium is an esteemed yearly program organized by the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, designed to bring together a diverse audience including faculty, residents, fellows, students, and local practitioners interested in the latest advancements in plastic and reconstructive surgery. This event serves as a Continuing Medical Education (CME)-approved conference, promoting knowledge sharing among professionals in the field. For its 18th iteration, the symposium will be held at the Ohio State Eye and Ear Institute in Columbus, Ohio, marking a significant moment as it is the first time the program has taken place in the United States after historically being hosted in Amiens, France. This year’s theme is Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Plastic Surgery, featuring a keynote presentation by Dr. Felmont Eaves, III, who serves as the Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship Program Director at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and as Chief Medical Officer of The Plastic Surgery Channel. The symposium will showcase contributions from international experts, including Dr. William Wallace from Fleming Island, Florida, and J.P. Hong, highlighting fresh insights into perforator and propellor flaps. The event will include hands-on experiences such as cadaveric dissection workshops focusing on nine key flaps and their surgical details on August 24. Following this, the symposium will host engaging 'Breakfast-to-Cocktail' sessions from August 25-26, where attendees can delve into cutting-edge aspects of technology-rich perforator surgery. This unique conference format provides a valuable opportunity for busy clinicians to exchange educational pearls, discuss potential pitfalls, and network with vendors of innovative products and scientific leaders in the field.
