Principles & Philosophy Conference

The Principles & Philosophy Conference serves as a significant gathering focused on the cooperative business model, particularly within the credit union sector. Hosted at the Caraway Conference Center in Sophia, North Carolina, this event is organized by a dedicated group of Credit Union Development Educators from the Carolinas. The conference aims to deepen the understanding of credit union principles and values, emphasizing how these core beliefs differentiate credit unions in the marketplace.

By connecting attendees with the purpose and passion underlying credit unions, the conference is not only informative but also instrumental in fostering a sense of community and commitment among professionals in the industry.

This year's conference features the involvement of the Carolinas Credit Union League, alongside the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation, which plays a crucial role in funding scholarships for attendees. Jeff Hardin, the Foundation's director of collaborative programs, is at the helm of this partnership, working to enhance the educational offerings of the event.

Attendees, particularly staff and volunteers from credit unions with assets of $100 million or below, have the opportunity to apply for scholarships that cover all conference expenses, including meals, lodging, and materials, thus making it accessible for those eager to learn. The conference provides a unique deep dive into the Seven Cooperative Principles, allowing participants to grasp the social purpose of cooperatives and credit unions, and how these principles translate into effective business practices.

With a diverse audience reach extending to countries like Norway, Sudan, and Canada, this conference is poised to be an enlightening experience for all involved.
