Polar Marine Science (GRS)

The Polar Marine Science Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) provides a unique platform for emerging researchers, particularly young doctoral and post-doctoral scientists, to present their work and engage in collaborative discussions about polar marine ecosystems. This seminar aims to address the significant changes occurring in both Arctic and Antarctic ecosystems due to environmental shifts. Participants are encouraged to share their pre-published data, innovative methodologies, and cutting-edge ideas, fostering a multidisciplinary approach that spans marine biology, chemistry, physics, geology, engineering, and social sciences. The seminar emphasizes the need to quantify spatial, seasonal, and interannual variability, aiming to clarify uncertainties in predicting future ecosystem changes and strengthen predictive capabilities for coming decades. The seminar will feature approximately ten talks and two poster sessions, encouraging all attendees to actively engage through presentations or poster displays. The selection of speakers will be based on abstracts submitted by applicants. Those not chosen for oral presentations will still have the opportunity to showcase their research through posters. The GRS opens with an introductory session, followed by a poster session and dinner, with further sessions scheduled throughout the weekend. This seminar not only highlights innovative research but also serves as a supportive environment for presenting new, unpublished data, aiming to advance the understanding of polar ecosystem dynamics and their responses to environmental changes. The GRS is held in conjunction with the Polar Marine Science Gordon Research Conference, providing an enriched experience for all participants.
