Pacific Sociological Association Annual Meetings

The Pacific Sociological Association (PSA) Annual Meetings is an esteemed gathering that aims to address critical societal issues while fostering community engagement and collaboration. The upcoming 97th Annual Conference marks a significant occasion as it celebrates nearly a century of the PSA's commitment to exploring sociological themes in beautiful Indigenous homelands across the Western region of Turtle Island.

This year's conference theme, presented in the Yakama Ichishkín language, pays tribute to the vision of education and learning held by Yakama Elders, emphasizing the importance of collective dreaming and the power of shared futures. The PSA invites participants to center Indigenous, environmental, and intersectional sociologies, reflecting on the past to shape a more inclusive future.

The conference will take place in Oakland, California, specifically on the Tongva/Gabrieleño and Acjachemen Homelands, aiming to honor Indigenous peoples, lands, languages, and ways of knowing. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with thought leaders and scholars who are dedicated to teaching and research that prioritizes care for our Mother, the Earth.

The event is designed for a diverse audience, extending its reach not only within the United States but also to international participants from places like Ukraine. Through this annual gathering, the PSA continues to create a powerful space for dialogue, intellectual exchange, and community building, making it a significant event on the sociological calendar.
