EducationThe New Year's Training Camp (NYTC) is a rigorous and holistic intensive designed to accelerate training for young dancers, specifically targeting intermediate and advanced levels aged 10-22. This program, held in Los Angeles, aims to inspire greater individual effort and prepare participants for successful auditions, performances, and competitions in the forthcoming year. NYTC is recognized by students, parents, and educators alike as a transformative experience that instills belief in young artists, regardless of their background or body type.At NYTC, participants will receive exceptional training from a distinguished faculty, including Founding Artistic Director Francisco Gella, who has a notable career as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. He is joined by Julie Rose Friedrich, also a Founding Co-Artistic Director, who brings over 20 years of experience in ballet and contemporary dance. The program serves as an audition location for the Zeitgeist Dance Theatre Trainee Program, as well as providing opportunities for scholarship awards to various prestigious intensives and workshops, including Francisco Gella's Ballet+ and the New Century Dance Project. Scholarships are available based on merit and financial need.Classes will be held in three spacious studio classrooms, accommodating up to 50 dancers per age group. Participants can expect a blend of ballet, modern, contemporary, and improvisational dance techniques, with no auditions required to join the intensive. The program encourages parental involvement, allowing parents to attend orientation sessions and observe selected classes throughout the weekend. The NYTC promises an engaging environment where aspiring dancers can advance their skills and artistry, culminating in a showcase of talent and hard work. Beyond the core faculty, the NYTC features an impressive roster of guest artists and educators, including celebrated performers and choreographers, who contribute to the dynamic learning atmosphere.
