The North Carolina Dermatology Association (NCDA) is dedicated to uniting dermatologists in North Carolina to enhance professional education, advocate for quality patient care, and advance the dermatology practice. Attendees are invited to enjoy discounted accommodations at the Pinehurst Resort, ensuring a comfortable environment to learn and network.The NCDA also recently held its annual White Coat Wednesday lobby day at the North Carolina General Assembly, where over 20 dermatologists, including residents from Duke University, gathered to advocate for dermatology-related legislative issues. The event featured a briefing from NCDA lobbyist Rob Lammé, and highlighted discussions with key figures such as NCDA President Dhwani Mehta, MD, and Rep. Tim Reeder, MD. The 2026 NCDA Annual Meeting transitioned to a virtual format due to weather conditions, yet it continued to deliver valuable content, including impactful clinical research and case studies. Notable presentations included those by first-place winner Carolyn Ahlers, MD, whose research focused on clinical presentations of drug-related conditions, and second-place winner Alison Hollis, MD, presenting on collaborative care to optimize patient outcomes. Additional recognition went to Sarah Rimmer, MD, and Danielle Johnston, DO, for their significant contributions to the field.The NCDA also recognized excellence in poster presentations, with Chester Tyson taking first place for his narrative review on antifungal therapy for pediatric conditions. Elizabeth Fan and Hannah Kang earned second and third place respectively for their research on photodynamic therapy and a specific dermatological condition in children. Finally, the NCDA Executive Board has issued a position statement addressing health insurance carrier practices that adversely affect patient care, advocating for necessary changes to reduce delays and burdens on dermatologists and their patients. This ongoing commitment to advocacy and education underscores the NCDA's mission of enhancing dermatological practice across North Carolina.
