National Conference of Constituency Leaders

The National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL) is an essential gathering for members of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) aimed at empowering underrepresented constituencies within the field of family medicine. Taking place at the Kansas City Convention Center, this conference serves as a platform where leaders from diverse backgrounds—such as women, BIPOC, new physicians, international medical graduates (IMG), and LGBTQ+ physicians—can exchange information, share experiences, and develop crucial leadership skills. The NCCL provides an opportunity for these constituencies to voice their perspectives and advocate for issues that matter to their communities.Throughout the conference, participants will engage in various educational breakout sessions designed to enhance their leadership abilities and advocacy skills. Attendees will have the chance to elect national officers and participate in reference committees, ensuring that their voices are heard in significant decision-making processes. General registrants can co-author resolutions and testify on issues, although voting on resolutions and elections is reserved for chapter delegates—official representatives from each constituency. The conference not only focuses on leadership development but also includes discussions on the AAFP's strategic priorities, providing insights on how key organizations address vital issues affecting family physicians and underserved populations. Furthermore, attendees will receive enrichment credits for their participation, and certificates of attendance will be available for those who require documentation.
