Mittelstaedt & Gentry Doctoral Symposium

The Mittelstaedt & Gentry Doctoral Symposium is an esteemed gathering hosted by the Department of Marketing at Nebraska, taking place at the Courtyard Lincoln Downtown/Haymarket in Lincoln, United States. This two-day event is designed to emphasize and showcase dissertation research from doctoral students across various participant schools. Modeled after the renowned Haring Symposium at Indiana University, this symposium invites representatives from an array of prestigious institutions, including Indiana University, The Ohio State University, Michigan State University, Rutgers University, Northwestern, Purdue, and many others. These institutions are tasked with sending a presenter, a discussant, and a faculty member to partake in this academic exchange.The symposium kicks off with a welcome reception on Thursday evening, followed by an all-day schedule on Friday and Saturday morning dedicated to the presentation of dissertation research. Doctoral students present their work, which is then followed by insightful comments from discussants and extensive discussions from the audience. This format encourages a robust interchange of ideas, fostering an intellectually stimulating environment. The event culminates with a banquet on Friday evening, allowing participants to network and socialize, before concluding with lunch on Saturday. Importantly, while participant schools are responsible for covering transportation and lodging expenses, the Department of Marketing graciously provides meals and covers the costs associated with the symposium proceedings.
