Midwest Econometrics Group Annual Meeting

The Midwest Econometrics Group Annual Meeting is a prestigious two-day event that focuses on econometric theory, methods, and empirical applications. This 34th annual meeting is set to take place at the University of Cincinnati, specifically at the Graduate Hotel on the university's campus. It is a collaborative effort between the Lindner College of Business's Economics department and UC's Charles Phelps Taft Research Center.

The event promises to attract a wide range of participants, including academicians, researchers, and industry professionals, particularly from Cincinnati, which hosts numerous firms that employ econometricians, such as Great American Insurance, Fifth Third Bank, Kroger, GE Aerospace, Procter & Gamble, and NielsenIQ.A highlight of the event is the opening lecture delivered by a distinguished faculty member from Michigan State University's Economics department.

Additionally, the keynote speaker for the Friday night dinner is an esteemed faculty affiliate from the University of Louisville and the University of Notre Dame. The conference also includes a Mentoring Workshop for Junior Researchers, which is a longstanding tradition of MEG aimed at supporting early-career researchers with a quantitative focus. This workshop will pair selected junior researchers with senior mentors to discuss their papers, fostering professional growth and networking opportunities.

The workshop will commence with a networking dinner on the evening prior to the main conference, followed by sessions on Friday morning.

Moreover, the Midwest Econometrics Group will recognize outstanding contributions from students through the MEG Best Student Paper Awards, which will award two $1,000 prizes for the best student papers presented at the conference. All students presenting at the event are eligible to apply, except for those whose papers are co-authored with their advisors. The event is organized by faculty members from the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, ensuring a well-structured and impactful meeting for all participants.
