About
EducationMidwest Conference on Asian Affairs
The Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs (MCAA) is set to take place at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, bringing together scholars from various disciplines to engage in discussions and collaborations on Asian studies. This annual conference, now in its 75th iteration, aims to foster scholarly interchange among Asianists from the American Midwest, as well as those from other regions of the United States and internationally.
The event will be held in-person from October 2 to October 4, 2026, primarily in the UWL Student Union ballroom, with additional panel sessions occurring in classrooms across the campus.
The MCAA encourages submissions for panels, roundtables, individual papers, and workshops that focus on a wide range of topics related to East and Inner Asia, Northeast Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Asian Diaspora. Topics that explore comparative, inter-Asian, and global Asia are also welcomed. Faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students, and independent scholars are invited to present their research, gain valuable feedback, and network with peers in the field.
The conference also recognizes outstanding student contributions through various prizes at both graduate and undergraduate levels, with Professor Lingchei Letty Chen serving as the prize coordinator for this year's event.
