Sports & RecreationMaui Steel Guitar Festival
The Maui Steel Guitar Festival is an annual event held at The Shops at Wailea, Wailea-Makena, bringing together steel guitar enthusiasts from various regions, including the USA and Canada. This festival is a celebration of Hawaiian music and culture, featuring an impressive lineup of steel guitar masters from O‘ahu and Maui, as well as the talented NextGEN steel guitarists. The event is designed to engage the community and visitors alike, offering a rich experience for all attendees.
In addition to performances, the festival will host a hands-on opportunities experience table, where guests can learn about and try their hand at playing the Hawaiian steel guitar. This interactive element allows participants to receive guidance from seasoned steel guitar professionals, making it a unique learning experience. The Maui Steel Guitar Festival is presented free to the public, thanks to the support of the Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences (HIMELE), The Shops at Wailea, and the Ke Kula Mele Hawai‘i School of Hawaiian Music, along with additional support from the Royal Hawaiian Center and the Festival Companies.
This collaborative effort underscores the importance of preserving and promoting the art of steel guitar music in Hawaii.
