Literature Film Association Conference

The Literature Film Association Conference is set to take place at Elon University in Elon, United States, engaging a diverse audience in discussions surrounding the intricate relationship between nationhood, identity, and storytelling through various media forms. This multidisciplinary conference encourages exploration of the concept of nation as proposed by Benedict Anderson, delving into how imagined communities are formed and sustained through adaptations and narratives.

The significance of examining the formation, alteration, and interaction of national and international communities through art is particularly relevant in the context of the 250th anniversary of the United States and ongoing global conflicts.

Scholars are invited to submit papers on a wide array of topics related to film and media studies, especially those that focus on adaptations of national myths, the interplay of race and place in legal subjectivity, and transnational narratives that transcend traditional national boundaries. The conference welcomes a variety of presentation formats, including academic papers, panels, and creative contributions from writers, artists, and filmmakers.

Topics of interest also include the examination of indigenous and diasporic narratives, the role of adaptations in bridging communities and generations, and the methodologies of political and social sciences as they relate to adaptation studies. Attendees are required to be current members of the Literature/Film Association, ensuring a vibrant and engaged community of scholars and practitioners dedicated to exploring the evolving landscape of cultural representation in media.
