LAPSEN National Conference

The LAPSEN National Conference is a groundbreaking event designed for agencies and educators focused on youth recruitment within the Law and Public Safety (LPS) sector. Taking place in Las Vegas, the conference will feature presentations on best practices, successful recruitment strategies, and innovative methods to cultivate new talent in the field. Over the course of the event, attendees will have numerous opportunities to network with other recruiters and agencies, sharing insights and experiences to enhance their recruitment efforts.

The conference will include an array of sessions covering critical areas essential for developing high-quality educational programs. A special pre-conference training will certify instructors in 9-1-1 dispatch and NFPA 2400 Drones for Public Safety. Additionally, the event will introduce the LAPSEN microcredentialing instructor certification for the first time, along with courses in Basic Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) and Basic Law Enforcement.

The merging of the industry recruitment conference with the LAPSEN conference further enriches the experience, providing participants with more choices to maximize their career preparation and transitions. Notably, the LAPSEN project will unveil the 'Pathways to the Badge' initiative, aimed at expanding resources across various career pathways.

The conference also seeks to address a pressing need within the sector: the projected demand for 100,000 LPS officers annually, alongside a current population of over 400,000 young people in career and technical programs. Through improved entry-level candidate quality, the LAPSEN National Conference aims to tackle hiring shortages and positively influence educational programs nationwide.

The final day will also feature Work-Based Learning (WBL) sessions specifically tailored for the LPS sector, which is recognized for its unique challenges in establishing effective programs. This day is part of ACTE’s Career Tech VISION pre-conference, culminating in an opportunity for CTE administrators, industry recruiters, and leading LPS educators to network and explore best practices in WBL.Attendees are encouraged to participate in the entire conference to benefit from the extensive offerings and sessions that are relevant to LPS educators.
