IEEE Cyber Awareness and Research Symposium

The IEEE Cyber Awareness and Research Symposium (CARS) is a premier event aimed at addressing the pressing challenges and advancements in cybersecurity. This symposium, hosted at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, will gather a diverse group of participants, including researchers, industry leaders, and students. The event is collaboratively organized by the UND College of Engineering & Mines, the Center for Cybersecurity Research, IEEE, IEEE Region 4, and the IEEE Red River Valley Section, ensuring a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to cybersecurity issues.CARS 2026 promises a high-impact experience with a focus on cutting-edge topics such as AI-driven security, cyber-physical systems, and critical infrastructure defense. Attendees can expect expert insights through various sessions, including three specialized workshops that offer hands-on learning opportunities in biomedical security, AI safety, and aviation cybersecurity. The symposium also features an Industry Track where companies and professionals can share their perspectives through 2-3 page opinion papers, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. Networking opportunities abound, allowing participants to engage with peers and industry professionals who are actively addressing real-world cybersecurity challenges. CARS also encourages the presentation of innovative research and the exploration of emerging cybersecurity trends.Additionally, participants will have the chance to compete in a Cyber Capture the Flag (CTF) event and can have their work published in the IEEE Digital Library (IEEE Xplore).
