Functional Gait Assessment Level 1

The Functional Gait Assessment Level 1 course is designed to enhance the skills of clinicians and significantly improve patient outcomes through a systematic approach to foot and gait analysis. This course targets those seeking to deepen their understanding of gait mechanics, particularly in relation to lower extremity complaints. Participants will learn about the complexities of gait assessments, how to identify aberrant patterns, and the ways in which tissues can become overloaded, leading to pain and injury. The curriculum includes pre-recorded lecture and lab videos for self-paced learning, as well as a two-day in-person course led by expert instructors, providing interactive demonstrations and hands-on practice.The course offers valuable insights into assessing the foot and ankle, leg, torso, abdomen, and the entire lower quarter through various evaluation techniques such as postural assessment, palpation, and dynamic orthopedic testing. Throughout the two-day event, participants will engage in lectures, labs, and case studies, enhancing their competence in recognizing normal and pathological gait patterns. Upon completion, attendees will receive a certificate and be included in the Gait Happens Local Practitioners Map, demonstrating their commitment to advanced clinical skills. The course is approved for continuing education credits for Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists in multiple states across the U.S., ensuring that participants can apply their learning in diverse clinical settings.The event features leading experts in the field, including Dr. Courtney Conley, founder of Gait Happens, who has extensive experience working with athletes and a deep understanding of foot function.
