Coordinated School Health Conference

The Coordinated School Health Conference, organized by the Missouri Coordinated School Health Coalition (MCSHC), is designed to assist schools in enhancing student health and wellness initiatives. It promotes the Whole School, Community, Child (WSCC) model developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts among families, schools, and communities in fostering optimal health and learning environments for children. This model consists of ten interactive components that focus on developing health-related knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors among students.In addition to the conference, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS), along with partners including the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), is actively engaging schools through the Preventing Youth Vaping in Schools TEAMS Program. This year-long initiative aims to strengthen policies and practices related to vaping and tobacco prevention within Missouri schools and districts. Participating teams will receive comprehensive support, including training, technical assistance, and mentorship, tailored to the specific needs of the schools. The program encourages districts to assemble multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement strategic action plans focused on enhancing vaping and tobacco prevention efforts. Selected teams will benefit from customized training, access to valuable resources, and networking opportunities, as well as a stipend of $3,100 for fulfilling participation requirements. The conference and program collectively aim to elevate health standards and improve the overall well-being of students.
