This informative program is developed and presented by the Continuous Casting Technology Committee of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), which boasts a membership of 16,600 professionals across more than 70 countries. The seminar is specifically designed for frontline operators in the steelmaking industry and aims to enhance their understanding of the practical aspects of casting slabs, billets, and blooms. The key focus is to provide attendees with a strong foundation in both the theoretical concepts and practical applications of continuous casting, ensuring that even those without a technical background can grasp the essential processes involved.The seminar is not only beneficial for frontline casting employees but also for individuals newly assigned to work in the casting area, suppliers of casting consumables and services, and anyone interested in reviewing the critical variables that affect the quality of as-cast products. This program will cover general casting principles with a comprehensive representation of all machine types used in the industry. Additionally, AIST has introduced the Bring Your Own Young Professional (BYOYP) program, which encourages members to engage younger professionals in the steel industry.
