Conference on Family Planning

The Conference on Family Planning in Baltimore is a unique opportunity designed for medical students and residents passionate about abortion care and family planning. This event aims to tackle critical issues in reproductive health, equity, and justice, providing high-quality evidence-based clinical education not typically found in medical school curricula. Attendees will participate in interactive and didactic sessions that cover a range of essential topics, including integrated health networks and community-based partnerships, telehealth and digital health equity, and the current restrictions surrounding abortion and contraceptive care access in the United States. Additionally, sessions will focus on informed consent and trauma-informed, person-centered options counseling, medical student advocacy, and global reproductive health disparities.The conference will also feature opportunities to enhance technical skills through hands-on training for Manual Vacuum Aspiration (MVA) and Intrauterine Device (IUD) placement. Participants will connect with expert faculty and engage with peers from Medical Students for Choice (MSFC) chapters both in the U.S. and globally. Key networking opportunities include interactions with current abortion providers, residency programs, and pro-choice organizations. The event will showcase research conducted by MSFC members and alumni in the fields of contraception, abortion care, and family planning. Furthermore, there will be a call for student poster presentations aimed at highlighting qualitative and applied research, promoting the vital contributions of MSFC chapter members and alumni.To encourage participation from underrepresented medical students, the conference will offer raffle entries for complimentary registration, with 25 spots randomly awarded. Additionally, student volunteers can assist with various sessions and will also receive complimentary conference registration, with a limited number of spots available on a first-come, first-served basis. For accommodation, an MSFC room block is available at a hotel offering competitive rates, complete with amenities such as microwaves and refrigerators in guest rooms. The conference aims to foster an environment of collaboration and innovation, ensuring that attendees leave equipped with new knowledge and skills in the field of family planning and reproductive health.
