The Call-on Congress event is a powerful advocacy movement aimed at raising awareness and influencing policy change concerning colorectal cancer. Taking place at the Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport, this event brings together advocates from across the United States to engage directly with legislators and promote impactful changes in colorectal cancer policy. Over the past two decades, Call-on Congress has successfully facilitated more than 2,500 meetings with Members of Congress, sharing nearly 2,790 stories that have made a significant impact on policymaking. Participants can expect an enriching experience through both virtual and in-person training sessions designed to equip them with the necessary skills for effective advocacy.Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with legislators, sharing their personal stories and advocating for legislation that addresses the needs of those affected by colorectal cancer. The event emphasizes the importance of ongoing advocacy beyond Washington, D.C., encouraging participants to continue their efforts at local levels. Junior Advocates, aged 7 to 17, are particularly highlighted in this event, as they gather to learn the basics of advocacy, develop their voices, and connect with their peers. A dedicated group for Junior Advocates aged 13 and older provides a platform for continued engagement throughout the year, fostering a community of young leaders committed to making a difference.Key activities during the event include the United in Blue Volunteer Day, where participants will plant 27,400 blue flags on the National Mall to symbolize the young individuals projected to face colorectal cancer by 2030. There will also be a rally to celebrate the collective efforts behind this initiative. The Call-on Congress Expo will feature valuable resources from Fight CRC and partner organizations, providing an interactive environment for learning and networking. A group photo at the Capitol will serve as a powerful reminder of the collective strength of advocates united for change. The event will culminate in a Blast Off Celebration Dinner, where attendees can unwind and celebrate their advocacy efforts in a fun, nostalgic atmosphere.
