Biophysics Fellows Research Conference

The Biophysics Fellows Research Conference (BFRC-NIH) is an esteemed event designed for early career biophysicists, including 35 predoctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers from the U.S. and abroad. This conference will take place at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Bethesda Campus, providing a unique opportunity to engage with the rich resources and research possibilities offered by various NIH institutes, including the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). Participants will have the chance to exchange scientific ideas and experiences through a series of formats, such as Three-Minute-Talks, seminars, networking opportunities, and poster presentations, facilitating interaction with the NIH intramural community of early career biophysicists and principal investigators.Eligibility to submit abstracts is open to early career biophysicists, which includes graduate students in Ph.D. programs who are engaged in biophysics research and are within two years of graduation, as well as junior postdoctoral fellows who are no more than two years into their postdoctoral training. Selected candidates will be notified by the BFRC-NIH committee and will receive a travel award to attend the conference in person, covering per diem rates for meals and accommodations, as well as transportation fares. The conference not only allows candidates to share their research through a Three-Minute-Talk and a poster presentation but also offers invaluable networking opportunities with NIH intramural research trainees, principal investigators, and leadership from the participating Institutes. Furthermore, to gain access to NIH facilities, candidates must pass a federal background check, which includes specific inquiries regarding illegal drug use as per federal laws.
