Annual International Conference on Ancient America

The Annual International Conference on Ancient America is a prominent event dedicated to fostering an open forum for both professional and amateur researchers in the field of ancient civilizations. The conference promotes the sharing of data and ideas, allowing researchers to collaboratively piece together the narrative of North America’s pre-Columbian history.

The philosophy, inspired by the founder C. Lay Rydholm, emphasizes the importance of presenting diverse perspectives and respecting all voices within the research community. Notable figures, including authors, filmmakers, and researchers of varying expertise, are invited to share their insights, creating an inclusive environment for knowledge exchange.

The event is more than just a gathering; it is a mission-driven initiative led by the Ancient Artifact Preservation Society (AAPS). The society aims to collect, preserve, and educate the public about evidence of ancient civilizations in North America, particularly focusing on the Great Lakes region. AAPS envisions creating a repository of artifacts and published research that supports academic investigations while also educating the public about their significance.

A significant success story of the organization was the preservation of a massive piece of float copper, which was saved from commercial melting and is now housed in a private museum in China, illustrating AAPS's commitment to artifact preservation. The conference also serves as a platform to launch educational programs, provide free resources, and promote proper archaeological practices, ensuring that future generations understand and appreciate the historical richness of ancient America.
