American Legion Department of Texas National Convention

The American Legion Department of Texas is hosting its National Convention, a key event that serves as the governing body for The American Legion. This convention is an essential gathering for delegates from each of The American Legion’s 55 Departments, representing all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico, and the Philippines.

Each Department is entitled to a minimum of five delegates, with additional delegates allocated based on membership numbers. The convention also includes the National Commander, members of the National Executive Committee, all living Past National Commanders, and the five National Vice Commanders among its delegates.

The convention will be held at The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, which is approximately eight miles from the airport. The hotel offers valet parking at a rate of $45.00 per day plus tax, and self-parking at $40.00 per day plus tax. Reservations are managed by the Department Headquarters, ensuring that attendees have accommodations arranged.

The estimated cost for a single or double room is around $170.08 per night, plus tax. A credit or debit card is required to secure the reservation, and a daily hold of $50.00 will be placed on the card to cover any potential room charges. It is also important for delegates and alternates to stay at the assigned Department Hotel for a minimum of three nights, unless otherwise authorized by their national organization.

As the planning for the event continues, further information will be provided to participants. This convention is pivotal for members of The American Legion to engage in important discussions and decisions that impact the organization and its future.
