The Acton Children's Business Fair in Morgantown is a unique and inspiring event designed for children to launch their very own startup businesses. Hosted at the Acton Academy of Morgantown, this fair provides an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to experience the excitement of running a business in a supportive environment. The goal is to inspire the next generation of innovators and job creators by allowing them to showcase their business ideas in a real marketplace setting.As the largest entrepreneurship event for kids in North America, the Acton Children's Business Fair features approximately 115 exhibitors and attracts around 1,500 visitors. Children participating in the fair are encouraged to think critically about their business concepts, including the products or services they wish to sell, how they plan to handle startup costs, and their marketing strategies. Each business will be provided with a booth that includes an 8-foot table to share with another business, with limited access to electricity available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parents can assist younger children at the booths, but the kids are expected to take charge of their businesses, ensuring they gain valuable experience in customer interaction and sales.The Acton Children's Business Fair has its roots in a small gathering initiated in 2007 by Jeff and Laura Sandefer in Austin, Texas, where there were only seven young entrepreneurs and about 25 attendees. Since then, it has grown exponentially, now hosting over 115 entrepreneurs and attracting around 1,500 attendees at the Austin fair alone. This growth underscores the impact of the fair in fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship among youth. Importantly, the event is inclusive and welcomes participants regardless of race, color, national, or ethnic origin, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to engage in entrepreneurial activities.
