About
EducationThe Acton Children's Business Fair in Denver is an inspiring event designed for children aged 6 to 16, encouraging them to explore their entrepreneurial spirit. Hosted by Heartland Academy Denver, this third annual fair will take place at the Colorado Family Church, featuring 25 booths where kids can showcase their very own startup businesses. The event aims to provide a platform for young entrepreneurs to develop their brands, create products or services, and implement marketing strategies, culminating in a one-day marketplace where they can interact with customers. This fair is considered the largest entrepreneurship event for kids in North America, drawing an impressive visitor count of approximately 1,500 attendees. Each business will be allocated a 6-foot table and two chairs, ensuring that all participating children have adequate space to present their offerings. Participants are encouraged to think critically about various aspects of their business, including product selection, marketing tactics, and success evaluation criteria. Importantly, the fair emphasizes the necessity for children to take the lead in their enterprises, with parental involvement limited to support roles. Parents are not permitted to sell or promote on behalf of their children, ensuring that the event remains a true learning experience for young entrepreneurs. The Acton Children's Business Fair was conceptualized by Jeff and Laura Sandefer along with several families who sought to ignite a passion for entrepreneurship in their children. Since its inception in Austin, Texas, in 2007, where it started with just seven young entrepreneurs and 25 attendees, the fair has grown exponentially, now featuring over 115 entrepreneurs at the Austin event. The Denver fair continues this tradition, empowering children to become principled entrepreneurs who can serve as role models for future generations. The event is supported by Acton Academy, the Acton School of Business, and numerous donors and volunteers, with a nominal fee of $20 for each business to cover costs. The Acton Children's Business Fair does not discriminate based on race, color, national or ethnic origin, ensuring equal access to all participants and visitors.
